SMCC Portraits: Raymond Chua
Hey, SMCCers!
I have had this little idea rolling around in my head for a couple of weeks now, and I’ve finally been able to put it into action. We have so many SMCC members, who are all so different and come from different places, with different backgrounds…and we all ended up here, working towards a common goal, right? So I thought, wouldn’t it be cool to learn more about our fellow students in the Smart Marketing Coaching Club?
With this in mind, I’m beginning a regular series of posts on the blog called SMCC Portraits. Each Portrait will feature a different SMCC member (and since we have so many, I won’t run out of Portraits for a long time!) answering various questions about him/herself.
So, I bring you our first SMCC Portrait: Raymond Chua!
What’s your name?
Raymond Chua
Where are you from?
I am from Johor Bahru, Malaysia
What’s your background and how did you get into Internet Marketing?
My background is in Material Physics. But, I never walk the path. I provide tuition service for school kids since I was in university (as a part time, of course) and I continue to teach until now. I teach Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and local languages. I love kids very much. 2 years after my graduation, I came across to an opportunity to joint venture for an existing kindergarten (in 2005).
All the while, I was doing my business alone and this is the first time I have my business partner. I have no experience at all. Within 6 months, I knew that I was cheated and I sued my partner. The case continues until now. I am still waiting for the MOE (Ministry of Education) of Malaysia to take their neccessary action.
After the failure of my kindergarten business, I began to hunt for new businesses. An opportunity knocked when a telemarketer called me and promoted a National Achiever Congress (NAC), 2006 Seminar to me. I signed up for the seminar and it was my first paid seminar. In the seminar, I was impressed by the presentation by one of the speakers. His USP was “Make Money in Your Sleep.” I signed up for his package immediately. That was the first day I exposed to the world of Internet Marketing.
Thanks to the package, as a total newbie who never attended a single computer class before, I was led to a dark cave. It was really dark, cold and frustrating. I wasn’t able to sleep in the dark and scary cave. “Make Money In Your Sleep.” How to make money if you can’t sleep? I began to wonder what was wrong with me. Mindset? Knowledge? Attitude? Or what?
I took another action and attended World Internet Summit in November 2006 in KL Malaysia. I got myself prepared to block all the irrisistable offers by the speakers.
Guess what? I ended up purchasing 2 more packages! One of them was Stephen Pierce’s SMCC package and that’s why you can read my story here today. I am lucky that I did not have any girlfriend or wife to stop me at that time.
Buying Stephen Pierce’s package is the best investment I have ever made. The package lights up the dark cave and fills it with the warmth and love of the SMCC family. Every UYMG, teleseminar and webinar is pushing me farther ahead.
Stephen has turned my dark cave into a merry crowded city.
Thank you, Stephen, Alicia, the best support team in the world, and all the SMCC members.
How long have you been a member of SMCC?
11 months (almost a year). Since November 2006.
Why did you choose Stephen as a mentor?
Stephen is a great mentor with a BIG heart. That’s what everybody (including me) says. He helps people whole-heartedly with pure sincerity. Not everyone is willing to share all his/her knowledge like Stephen does. (Let’s exclude Mahatma Ghandi and Mother Teresa for a moment). I feel grateful for what he had done to change my life.
What’s your niche/product/business?
I have a blog that writes about The Law of Attraction. I am promoting one of Stephen’s products, Attraction Accelerator, and other seminar tickets and coaching programs related to my niche, which is on personal development. I am looking forward to creating my own ebook. At the same time, I am selling a bunch of resale rights ebooks and looking for JV partners since I don’t have the time to promote every ebook (over 100 ebooks).
What’s your favorite thing about SMCC?
My favorite things about the SMCC is the connection and relationship between mentors, support team and members. It makes my learning experience even more interesting. The forum, blog, webinar software and various events do a fantastic job to connect everybody together. Who says Internet Marketing is a lonely business? Look at Web 2.0. Everybody is connected.
Biggest accomplishment?
Since I’m still a newbie, my biggest accomplishment is being able to earn USD$1000 within 2 weeks from affiliate commission through my blog. I feel grateful. It’s not a huge amount, but … did I say I want to stop here? (You’re right, Raymond! I should’ve added “so far” to the question! Good job not letting my wording limit your potential.
- Annie)
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Stay focused and take massive action persistently. It sounds simple, but it took me 8 months to realize the power of the phrase.

The Secret. I have watched it over 100 times and going to 200 soon. When the wave of the movie hit the market, I watched it every day during my dinner. It leads me to blog about it and make money out of it, of course.
Thanks, Raymond! I love the story about how you got into Internet Marketing and how you ended up with the SMCC membership. Great stuff.
So! This concludes our first SMCC Portrait. I hope you all enjoyed learning a little more about your fellow student Raymond, and I want you to keep an eye on your inboxes, as I’ll be emailing your question form to you when I get to your name in my list! Do not be worried if it takes some time before I get to you - there are a ton of students!
Now go check out Raymond’s links and tell the boy “hi.”
Cheers,
Annie
